James Bowen

Hello! I’m James, The first Ph.D. student of the lab! Outside of lab work and classes, I spend my time playing board and video games, biking, reading, and woodworking. I studied the sciences at Greenville University in Illinois, and am thrilled to be starting my research career in such an exciting place.

Hello! I'm Henry, the second Ph.D. student of the lab. I joined the lab after graduating with a degree in biology from Wabash College in Indiana. Outside of the lab I like to play soccer, hike, and play board games. I previously spent the 2024 summer as an undergraduate intern in the lab and I am so excited to be back as a graduate student.

Hello, I'm the Master's student and research technician in the lab.  I graduated from Missouri State University with a major in Microbiology and Biotechnology and minors in Chemistry and Religious Studies, with research experience in toxicology.  In my free time, I enjoy reading and playing video games.  I'm excited to start my career in virology research and learn all about bunyaviruses!

Pius Kinuthia

Hey! I’m Pius, a second-year undergraduate intern working in the lab. I am attending Indiana University Indianapolis with a major in Biology and minor in Epidemiology. I enjoy clinical work and lab research with having worked at my hometown's downtown ER hospital as a patient care technician. Outside of that, my hobbies are video games, playing sports with friends, and watching shows and movies.
